Am I the Ideal Candidate?

Your path to experiencing pain relief begins with an initial consultation at the Advanced Relief Institute, where you'll meet with one of our expert providers. During this consultation, your provider will take the time to understand your unique situation and the specific issues that brought you to us. Together, you’ll explore various treatment options designed to tackle the root cause of your pain, allowing us to create a personalized plan that leads to lasting relief. Pain injections might be recommended for you in the following cases:

  • You are experiencing persistent joint pain that’s impacting your mobility and daily life.
  • Previous treatments, such as medications or physical therapy, haven’t provided sufficient relief.
  • A licensed physician has evaluated your condition and determined that pain injections are an appropriate course of action following a thorough medical review.

How Do Joint Injections Work?

On the day of your joint injection procedure, you'll be welcomed into our calming office environment. We’ll make sure you’re comfortably positioned before cleansing the treatment area thoroughly with an antiseptic solution. A local anesthetic will then be administered to numb the area and ensure your comfort throughout the process. Using fluoroscopy, a real-time imaging technique, your physician will accurately guide a thin needle into the affected joint.

Once any excess fluid has been aspirated from the joint, and the needle’s placement is confirmed using a contrast agent, your provider will inject a tailored mix of medications. This could include corticosteroids to reduce inflammation, anesthetics to maintain comfort, hyaluronic acid to lubricate the joint, or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to promote healing and tissue regeneration.

After completing the pain injection in Aventura, the site will be cleaned, and a Band-Aid will be applied to cover it. This straightforward procedure typically lasts between five and 15 minutes. If needed, treatments can be repeated every few weeks, and we’ll work with you to develop a schedule that aligns with your needs.

Pre-Op and Post-Op Instructions

Before the Procedure

Prior to your pain injection appointment, it's important to arrange transportation to and from our office, as your doctor may advise against driving immediately after the procedure. Additionally, make sure to discuss any medications you’re currently taking with your doctor, particularly if you’re on blood thinners, as these may need to be temporarily discontinued.

After Your Pain Injections

After your pain injections, it’s important to rest the treated area and refrain from engaging in strenuous activities, swimming, or using saunas for at least 24 to 48 hours. If you notice any minor swelling or discomfort, you can apply ice to the area. Be vigilant for any signs of infection or adverse reactions, and contact us immediately if anything unusual arises. We’ll also schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor your recovery and decide if further treatments or injections are needed.
